Taste of London 2015…THAT burger

On a recent trip into London (heavily pregnant these days) so I’l describe things as “trips” because they certainly feel like it with the effort to get anywhere! I ventured to Taste of London on behalf of AEG, my love of good food hasn’t subsided, even having been on a gestational diabetes diet (which was hard to start with) so with this challenge in mind I wanted to try some of the iconic dishes at the festival from some amazing restaurants this year.

We had organised to visit AEG for a live cookery session, but unfortunately missed it running late! We didn’t get on another but had a lovely chat with Chef Jeremy Pang from School of Wok who was headlining the “get your wok on” classes for people, I love his style of teaching and cooking.

We were lucky to see the legendary Michel Roux Jr, wondering around with his proteges and being filmed on camera. He was the last to appear on the AEG taste theater and there were herds of crowds waiting to see him!

The highlight of our visit was the Ogleshield cheese, truffle mayo burger by Pont street restaurant, great flavours, juicy patty and really enhanced by that truffle mayo.

Sabrina Ghayour’s 5* chicken and pomegranate kebab with freekah salad and padron peppers, a great meal in itself, I really enjoyed the flavours with the tender juicy chicken, yoghurt dressing, pomegranate flecks and onions for crunch. This was for Action Against Hunger.

photo 4Final dish was the tender lamb cutlet from Clove Club with gochujang and black sesame, we managed to get this one in with only 20 lamb cutlets left before they sold out! It was meltingly tender, only wish there was more…

Another interesting year at Taste of London, I found there were many more drink producers/stands this year (maybe its because I’ve been tee-total for 9 months!) the crowds were buzzing, it had a nice atmosphere and feel to it, there were plenty of restaurants this year on show, many I hadn’t tried so it was bit more exciting to experience some of their signature dishes.

Till next year!
